PenFed may be able to make some eligible direct deposit transactions available earlier than the regular schedule date. Eligible transactions are certain ACH credit transactions, such as payroll, tax refunds, government benefits, military pay, and pensions. PenFed relies on ACH transaction coding and instructions provided by payers to determine of the transaction is eligible for early direct deposit. Early direct deposit is not guaranteed.
Here are some reasons why PenFed may not be able to post direct deposits early:
- You recently set up direct deposit for the first time (government pay may take a pay cycle or two to establish)
- Your deposit type is not eligible, such as a bank-to-bank transfer, peer-to-peer transfers (such as Zelle), checks, or mobile deposits.
- There is a payroll system issue from the payer.
- The payer has the incorrect PenFed routing number or account number on file.
- Early direct deposits also depend on timing—payers must provide payment details so PenFed can process the deposit early. If a deposit does not arrive early, members can expect it to arrive on the scheduled payday.
